Although this is science fiction, so maybe there's another explanation that I haven't come across yet.

On an Earth-like exoplanet in this book are creatures they call mimic lizards. It's interesting because it would be a good example of convergent evolution for animals on an exoplanet to have evolved into similar forms as on Earth, suggesting perhaps a similar evolutionary history?

Does it not? I'm looking at a map showing the Thames there although I believe it's called the Isis in Oxford.

I'd love it if they then moved on to another library. If it takes three years to do each library refurbishment it would be worth it. Do Govanhill Library next, another of Glasgow's Carnegie libraries.

I love it when wildlife does this. Seabirds seem to be especially unfazed by our presence, but I loved having Turnstones wandering around nearby in Scarborough.

Depends whether they liked fiction or non-fiction. But here's my recommendation from the fiction camp: Elif Shafak: There Are Rivers in the Sky. An inspiring story that transports you to places in time and space.

Have you ever seen the documentary Ex Libris about the New York Public Library? It was really inspiring as it showed off the range of services it provides, from concerts in their largest venues down to providing education and social support out in the community libraries.

I worked in a small local library for a short spell when I was younger. I thought the people I worked with were really pleasant. The library also had a little room where people could hold events, showing how flexible and useful libraries are.

A common comment in the same news segment about Farage is that he is straight talking and tells the truth. I wonder if people enjoy being deceived or just are really gullible.

If only European club competitions was more equitable. Teams from smaller nations don't stand a chance, particularly in the Champions League.

Honestly, it's what shopkeepers used to do. Look after your own bit of the street and your neighbour does their bit, and it all adds up to a clean street. This would free the council to focus on other things like emptying bins and keeping cycle lanes litter and silt-free.

Yeah I think that's why they set this as a challenge to find them. They assumed if you could find a holly tree then you're in a with a good chance of finding the mines.
