How are you speaking from your own experience when you tell another Jew speaking from their own experience that they're not doing it the right way? You were actually, in a way, speaking to us about others' experiences, speaking up for people from other groups implying they'd been excluded.

When you talk about someone's tone triggering you, or say their "hyperbole" raises your hackles, that's innately contentious. When you are saying someone claimed an experience was unique, that's a criticism. To be honest, you triggered me by attributing things to me &/or Erin that we didn't say.

If we were talking about any other group, would you feel the same way & chime in? Would you tell someone talking about a Black or immigrant or trans experience that that's not unique & Jews have experienced it, too? Or tell a Black person their hyperbole was excluding immigrants?

Look, we probably share most if not all of the same values. But I also feel like you're reacting to stuff that isn't there. Not that it never exists, but - just my opinion - you seem to have formed the opinion that this is everywhere & a problem you feel compelled to address. It feels outsized.

I actually talk a lot on here about how I feel inhibited when discussing antisemitism b/c as a white-passing Jew, I am in far less danger than most other marginalized groups. It's important to acknowledge that. But Jews also shouldn't be shamed for talking of their own specific experiences.

Your experience online is your own, but mine has been overwhelmingly one of seeing Jews go out of their way to support other groups. And I don't think it's exclusionary to other groups to discuss the trope that Jews have an outsized power & point out that our numbers are smaller than many know.

I vehemently disagree that there is a tendency to describe our experience as unique. Every Jewish activist I know is committed to acknowledging & showing solidarity with other marginalized groups' struggles. Including Erin, to whom you first responded. Solidarity is a core Jewish concept.

I don't even understand the *point* of arguing "antisemitism" means hatred of all people from the region. Is your point that hatred of Jews doesn't exist? Do you resent being called antisemitic b/c you only have a problem w/ Jews & not the other "Semites"? It is a weird, weird cause to take up.

The phrase "Anti-semitism" has specific origins in hating of the Jewish people, regardless of how you parse the etymology of the components. There is no such thing as semitism & "anti-semitism" has never meant hatred of anyone but Jews. It is a phrase CREATED to target Jews.

My favorite thing about Pinup Girl Clothing was that they'd have multiple pics of a garment on models of different shapes, & not just like, one straight-sized & one plus-sized. Different SHAPES w/in size ranges. Sadly, one of the brands they feature prominently now doesn't do that, but the rest do.

Yeah, I also haven't shopped from them in a while. The only change I don't like is that they have a lot from a brand called Poundton, and those clothes don't have pics from lots of differently-shaped models, like the other clothes on there do.
