Fighting games + mecha. I make videos & beats | http://youtube.com/jiikae | 🇳🇬

I remember it vividly. And I feel like if you tell this to people who weren’t around back then they’d think we’re lying lol

Oh yeah. People gassed up Xbox Live versus PlayStation Network and attributed Xbox Live features to it being paid versus PSN back in the day. It was WILD.

How do we reconcile the fact that some of the long term decisions that game companies made were literally what consumers asked for until the consumers changed their mind

YUP. I also think boycotts are tough to organize when they are about the inherent quality of the product as opposed to an external political movement (e.g. BDS) Because otherwise yea, you’re just deciding to buy a product you don’t like. Which people do all the time. Hard to organize around that

Daze3x

Most online "boycotts" fail because most people don't know what a boycott is. Boycotts are well organized. Making a personal decision not to buy something, especially temporarily, is not a boycott. I would like if they reversed their decision, but it's very unlikely.

Honestly. Sony doing their physical disc discontinuation announcement on the year of GTA6 is some supervillain shit They know they can just wait until that drops and make it impossible for anyone to take any “boycott” claims seriously 😭

One thing people don’t know about emulators is that they got their name from the Emu bird. Emus are known to copy the movements of other animals, just like how emulators mimic hardware. So yeah.

Getting the underwater air bubble in old Sonic games looked refreshing as hell

I actually like that Expedition 33 is just a parry game where the RPG mechanics are mostly just a buffer for when you mess up your parries Even if it was a balancing issue on their part. It was a happy accident for me 😅

I understand that connotation is important. But I feel like sometimes people look too hard for connotation at the expense of just understanding words in a plain, literal way.

I have recently learned that Threads is actually very active and successful. I left after the first week so I never knew lol

Mid-stage capitalism had me fooled though I must admit

I don’t even be masking up everywhere I go But getting sick after conventions and tournaments was so common even before COVID that I pretty much always bring one to those events

One day I’ll find a way to package this thought better, but this idealized “buffet” style of engaging with game consumption that people seem to aspire to is actually something I think needs to be challenged a lot more

Rarely wrong. Just early.

"transforming Game Pass into a bustling indie library could work to both rapidly shrink the costs of running the service, as well as retain more subscribers" IMO the primary reason Game Pass failed to hit its subscriber targets is because the mass market simply does not care to play lots of games.

When discussing any technology, attempting to separate its existence from why it was made is a bit silly It’s like discussing the functionality of weapons and saying “People use them for decoration sometimes though”

Being a gaming news channel sounds miserable to me in general. But especially in 2026. Just layoffs and “Xbox has updated their logo to a slightly darker shade of green” stories to report on every week

I don’t get upset at bell hooks in general because I read her work under the assumption that she’s just a lady thinking out loud and not necessarily a sociological authority.

A lot of them nostalgia/aesthetic accounts are now getting their historical facts from AI summaries. It’s time to wrap it up.
