☑️ White Protestant supremacism ☑️ Sacrificing economic prosperity for economic control ☑️ Regional ideological rivalries and enmity ☑️ A kakistocratic government system that rewards ideological purity above literally everything else ☑️ A complete lack of understanding of military logistics

Frankly, the MAGA movement is probably most accurately described as a Confederate revanchist movement. That characterization does a pretty good job of explaining most of the movement's tendencies.

I think this is right. A lot of the MAGA political project effectively boils down to a preference for a poor, unstable society where white conservatives are at the top of the social hierarchy over a rich, cohesive society where anyone else might be at the top. Basically, Confederate thinking.

William Easley

I don’t think so. The idea is for economic position to be hereditary. It’s zero sum thinking. It’s effectively de growth econ for the purpose of imposing a frozen social hierarchy instead of one with some mobility
