The amount of unchecked misogyny that I see constantly showing up in seemingly progressive spaces lately is frankly disgusting. Misogyny doesn't always come in overt ways like conservative talking points. Instead, the constant questioning of women and talking over women is nigh constant lately.

I actually assume very few of them are tbh.

This response to Emily Wilson's critique of The Odyssey is very much giving "shut up, you're getting paid in exposure"-style energy. A person is allowed to critique something, especially a translator of Greek myth who is an expert in her field, and not limited to "shut up, it'll sell your book."

I really miss Wil Wheaton Star Trek after show. It was a nice part of my week after every new Trek episode.

It’s so funny that Critical Drinker is crashing out so hard about The Odyssey, because I spoke about in my video about how the movie holds traditionalist, conservative values, it, on some level, agrees with his “fall of western civilization” rhetoric, tied as it is to traditional masculine virtue.

Starter Trek was already good, but the recent switch to move it out of the paywall AND bring in @jessiegender.bsky.social has really solidified it for me. The ppl saying The Odyssey isnt good because it isn’t accurate really just miss the point. We’ve had thousands of versions of the Odyssey. Hundreds in film. The odyssey has always been a story changed by the teller, adding their own view. If you want an accurate telling, go read the story.
