I really hope I'm ultimately wrong but I dread what's coming in FFXIV 8.0. Everything they're showing and saying reads like a they are shifting focus to entice mobile gamers. Doubling down on creating FOMO in their audience. Multiple pieces of content are just going to be ads. It bums me out.

I wouldn't even mind like, a Mana themed one or a chrono trigger one. I'm deeply interested in such a big piece of content just being an ad for something entirely unrelated though.

Started in 1.0. Started XI during the NA launch as well and still playing (on and off)! XIV has a lot of little problems that can often add up to a frustrating experience but I love the game. Its the place I feel most at home and most like myself.

I used to have macros begging people to use the LB at the right time. I gave up on that.

I get that Sony is still going to push ahead and ignore any public outrage over their decisions but I do think its important to not concede that their narrative about customer preferences is legitimate.

Sony has misrepresented (lied about) digital versus physical sales to suit their narrative. They aren't counting sales 1 to 1. If you buy a physical game and then buy DLC for it. That DLC is going into the digital bucket. Everyone buying vbucks. All the indie games with no digital release.

They will make up the money from lost customers with schemes. They will keep raising hardware and subscription fees. They will continue try and chase live service models and fire devs. Their only goal is to make shareholders happy and enrich the upper management www.polygon.com/playstation-...

They don't care if, in the short term, they lose customers. The end goal is to having an audience completely captured inside their walled ecosystem. To fix prices as they like, to ensure there is no competition. They fully intend to hold their remaining customers hostage.

Very pretty! The remake isn't bad but it is very...safe and feels extremely budget. Its still very colorful but something was really lost in the translation to 3D models from the original sprite work. Also introduces some new bugs.
