Musk is calling for the assassination of a journalist. It's so difficult to comprehend why someone in his position would do such a thing that we naturally give him the benefit of every doubt, but it's crystal clear what he's saying.
Sunder Katwala (sundersays)There is simply no ambiguity in what Elon Musk is arguing and endorsing here.
Lindsey Graham, enthusiast of the “war on terror” and apologist for many of the terrible human rights abuses associated with it, dead at 71. www.nytimes.com/2026/07/12/u...
The students of the Yale College Council have made an outstanding statement calling on the university not to cut a deal with the federal government at the expense of their rights: www.youtube.com/watch?v=nwX1...
Today, Aslı Bâli argues that in this moment of deepening constitutional and geopolitical crises, the left must recover traditions that refused to separate democracy at home from anti-imperialism abroad. And no recent text has done this better than Aziz Rana's *The Constitutional Bind.*
This is a really good film about Floyd Abrams, the eminent free speech litigator, and it's launching digitally this week. I don't always see things the same way he does, but, as I say in the film, few people have had a larger role in shaping the modern First Amendment. tv.apple.com/us/clip/floy...
I would say that DOJ prosecutors just did the same thing that they're accusing the defendant of having done, but the defendant may have done it for public-minded reasons whereas DOJ prosecutors did it carelessly and in the context of an effort to suppress a report that the public has a right to see.
Kyle Cheney👀👀 DOJ inadvertently delivered Volume II of Jack Smith's report to the lawyers representing a defendant accused of improperly accessing/sending the report to herself. They notified Judge Cannon of the breach today. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...
This lawsuit was a cynical, dishonest, and confused effort to punish tech researchers and others for exercising core First Amendment rights. It should have been thrown out a long time ago, but better late than never.
Renee DiRestaToday we beat Stephen Miller’s lawsuit mill in court! For 3 years I’ve been a defendant in a case filed by America First Legal on behalf of Gateway Pundit & a random antivaxxer we’d never heard of until she sued us. The plaintiffs claimed we “censored” them. It was a lie. They just lost.
American lawyers who are wondering and agonizing about the role their profession is playing in the dismantling of this democracy should to listen to this podcast and get all of their friends to listen to it, too.
Jameel JafferAuthoritarianism is often thought of as the abandonment of law, a dynamic of constitutions being torn up and courts being shut down. But history’s most effective assaults on democracy have worked through law rather than against it. Important to remember right now. knightcolumbia.org/content/lawy...

I wrote about how people don't like it when companies try to fob off AI as human, why companies do it anyway, and what the law might do about it
