Violent Femmes played the WotC street party one year and sprayed the concertgoers with soap.

We had a party in that half-dome looking garden thing by the Hyatt (Indianapolis ) one year and the dance floor was so riled up the whole building was bouncing. I think the Sam Gamgee guy was there. The kid who was li’l Boba Fett showed up visibly drunk.

Another time we had stuffed Chad into one of the metal tree protectors the downtown trees had. A cop car pulled up and we stood in front of it like we hadn’t been doing anything, looking guilty as hell, with Chad’s feet poking out of the top of the tree-thing above our heads.

Another one I stole some blue houndstooth chef pants I found in the service corridor of a restaurant that had been left open to the street. I think it was over by the George Webb. Pauline swiped a pair as well.

What are the use cases? Urban planning forecasts, etc.?

"Oops, it was just one of many unconnected occurrences and not something endemic to an economic model that takes the labor value away from the people who perform it!" No, our economy requires people to be desperate enough to exchange their labor for pay doing something they don't want to do.

Every Robert Reich post is all "Look how everyday people are getting ripped off by [THING]!" and it's just describing basic capitalism functioning as it's supposed to. Yes, a CEO is getting rich off workers' labor and immiserating them; that's what capitalism is.

...so a lot of them are goofy things, but, still, they have memories attached to them. Overall it just feels like the house is less filled, or perhaps less full, and either word is true. Eldest is really looking forward to college, though, and youngest has his interests so no looming "sadness."

The timing of it, with one kid leaving home and the other not really a "little kid" anymore, definitely has a weight. Boxing up some stuff that my dad gave the kids before he died also feels... not like throwing things away, but definitely setting pieces of history aside. Dad was a character...
