The Republican Party largely became what it is because it embraced unreconstructed Southerners in the 1960s. Its push to the far-right was almost entirely driven by neo-Confederates, so it's no surprise that it has become a heavily Confederate institution.

Honestly my biggest hope for the American South does not rest in the rural areas (obviously) but in the cities that are steadily becoming bluer and finding some novel ways to both incorporate and modernize certain aspects of Southern culture and jettison and account for the worst.
This shit with Taylor Farms is exactly what I’m talking about when I say you may say you “don’t do politics,“ but politics are more than happy to do you. The microbes political bribes got out the door and into your intestines don’t particularly care that you find it all beneath you.
I don't agree, I think we have a collective responsibility here and regarding us as collectively responsible is correct until we can prove otherwise. My own senator (Schiff) was being really fucking embarrassing about this publicly, for example - democrats aren't being good allies right now.
America has never been susceptible to communism. It has always been susceptible to fascism. Know your history. Know your context. Know smokescreens when you see them. The threat of communism has always been a smokescreen used by fascists in America.
This hands across the aisle shit needs to fucking die. You are reaching out to monsters and murderers. You need to be shitcanned. We are fighting for our lives and you’re calling it a fucking disagreement you absolute ghouls.
Erin BibaPrimary every fucking Democrat who releases a statement that includes the phrase “while we disagreed on a lot of things…”
It’s also noteworthy that reaching across the aisle is a 100% Democrat endeavor. Today’s Republicans wouldn’t be caught dead reaching out to the other side. So effectively it’s just posturing, meant to impress people who despise the concept.
Once again, I am asking my party to 1) expand the House and 2) mandate that each state be a single multimember district with proportional representation.
Sharon 🪳🌹among the reasons political reform should be genuinely a 2028 discussion point is because the current FPTP system basically has NatCons + legacy GOPers in one party and everyone else politically in the other
