I wouldn’t be surprised if it made Nolan’s week. She took him seriously, which is the real capital. Fans never get that. It’s also why Beyonce can’t achieve the canonization she so desperately craves — her fans shielding her from precisely the kind of criticism that would elevate her work.
Hüstler DüLike she the type of expert you frame with pride getting dunked on like that.
Nice! I just got it & other books last week at a new bookstore in Atlanta, Offbeat Books, which specializes in speculative fiction & are (in their words) "A home for weirdos, unhinged women & their supporters, and readers who just want something a little off the beaten path." 📚 www.offbeatbooks.com
Let me introduce you to Tametara mirim, a basal Cretaceous snake from South America that was likely fossorial. It is known from a beautifully preserved and articulated specimen that includes a skull! If you know anything about snake fossils you will know that is VERY rare #snakes #paleoart
Wrote about early snake evolution & how fossils suggested its probable relationship to burrowing in my book 'The Evolution Underground' (2017, @pegasus-books.bsky.social). So now it's nice to see more fossil evidence supporting this probable mode for at least some snake lineages. 🧪🪨🐍🕳️
Science NewsMost snake fossils are 2-D. But in 2020, scientists discovered a 3-D fossil in Brazil. Its skull is revealing new insights into the lives of ancient snakes. https://www.sciencenews.org/article/3d-rare-snake-fossil-underground-home
Multiple trackways found in Kenya might give our hominin relative Paranthropus a size boost. I've got some cool new paleoanthropology science for you over at @smithsonianmag.bsky.social 🧪
Giant predatory sharks have evolved over and over again. For Smithsonian, I dive into what led Otodus megalodon and friends to get so big. 🧪

A small amount of carbon can give us a whole lot of information, allowing scientists to build a timeline of animals and environments that existed during Ice Age L.A by measuring traces of carbon. Discover how ancient fossils are shaping new research: go.nhm.org/tar-pits-res...
Bird poop changed the world. Before synthetic fertilizers, seabird guano fueled agricultue, reshaped global trade, and led America to seek territory overseas. It's a surprising history that reminds us that the world’s food supply has long rested on fragile connections between remote places.
30 years ago Bears Ears Ntnl Monument was protected. I’ve done paleontology there & I was consultant for the film Spirit. Trump has now gutted BENM where Spirit first ran free. Lend your voice to protect these public lands. #SVPPresident #SpiritStallionoftheCimmaron #BearsEars
