As you said, the playbooks different wildly in terms of word count, and it's impossible to lay them all out exactly the same way. I was also focused on printouts (which I use most often) but "foldability" might be a detriment in online play.

(Crap. Bluesky closed and 8 lost my thread. 😢) I sincerely appreciate these responses and the time you took to give them. I was focused on new players and hunter creation, but the revised playbooks having an "in play" and "reference" side makes a lot of sense for continued play.

There is an Advanced Pronunciation lesson I occasionally teach that is basically this. We don't use this sentence, obviously. But the lesson shows students how the meaning of a sentence can completely change based on which word is stressed. I think it's a fun lesson.

Okay, interesting. I hadn't realized that. That may change my opinion on the revised playbooks.

This feels grimly accurate. I think for most people, engagement with the party feels like getting on Temu’s mailing list: Just a neverending stream of spam asking for cash and no other meaningful call to be part of anything that might generate any sense of identity or community.
