Journalist who mostly does Dad Posting. talk from time to time on @trashfuture.bsky.social and @10kpostspodcast.bsky.social

Following on from the point about British political journalists having no interest in contemporary culture or social science, the most elevated still use the same bits from the same references, and then patronise people if they don't 'get it'

Andy Ledger

Not sure if I agree with Janan Ganesh. Surely the Your Party debacle, along with Green Party travails, shows the factions left is alive & well & living in Islington

Look idc about vape shops but I will hear no slander about phone repair stores. The people working in them are the only front we have against the tyranny of Apple and by extension, big tech, who insist that any kind of minor water damage is unrepairable

Only a matter of time before Bari Weiss hires Konstantin Kisin to be a senior editor at 60 minutes, but the funniest part would really be Francis Foster being ignored once again

Cannot emphasise enough that a decade ago he was a normal guy. I went to interview for him once when he was editing city am, and if anything he was just kind of dull. Now whenever I see his face he’s screeching about the apocalypse or welcoming the death cult

Roland Smith

Nighty night.

Only thing worse than this phenomena are AI-loving parents who exclusively use LLMs to make 'personalised' storybooks with characters resembling their kids

Miles Klee 🦉

Parents are fed up with friends and relatives giving their kids “personalized” AI-generated storybooks with characters resembling their kids. Apart from data privacy concerns, literacy experts say these garbled and convoluted narratives could be an impediment to learning how to read.

I’d love to be one of those guys that gets to hang around the dj at a tasteful natural wines store opening. Imagine it must be the best feeling in the world when he lets you turn one of the dials slightly up or down

I know this is anecdotal but in my time working in British newsrooms one thing that was very clear was that outside of books and perhaps some culture desks, there was basically no interest in ideas or intellectual thought. If anything they were quite hostile to anything related to social science

Like, 'we must save Western civilisation' is another fig leaf that never gets any scrutiny in UK media. No questions from journalists, nothing like, 'You're speaking of key thinkers in Western civilisation like Marx and Engels, Butler, the Frankfurt school, and Wollstonecraft? Right?'

Walking into the cinema to go see The Odyssey while carrying an LRB tote bag and a highlighted copy of Emily Wilson’s review. It impresses all the staff, and they offer me a free bag of popcorn. I refuse, as I pull out my container of Kimchi. Everyone stops what they’re doing and applauds

Been trying to articulate this on the show for years and he just comes out and says it

Actually really funny that the only song that I can hum to get my kid to sleep is Purple Lamborghini by Rick Ross

Honour to be a guest on BLOOD WORK, to talk about Eddington, suburban weirdness, and of course i sandwich in a Serial Experiments Lain reference

Gregk Foley

BLOOD WORK / EPISODE 43 YOUR BEING MANIPULATED: EDDINGTON w/ HUSSEIN KESVANI @hkesvani.bsky.social Hussein comes on to talk about the most important film of the COVID era that isn’t Christopher Nolan’s TENET.

One of my son's favourite books is about an elephant that goes to a museum to visit his ancestors who have all been captured, put in zoos and then taxidermied. Always thought it was kind of fucked up, especially at the end when the elephant goes to the gift shop

Idk man, what about, Hungry Caterpillar R rated horror film with the twist that its mostly a monster flick but by the end the true horror is the Caterpillar’s endless need to consume as a deep commentary on capitalism. Is that something

Reminds me of a time in school when a friend of mine was really hungry, so he bought a hot lunch and a sandwich, only to over-estimate his appetite. He still ate both lunches anyway and had a really bad stomach ache for the rest of the day. People still call him "two lunches"

Neon Genesis Ewangelion

i got myself two lunches and only had appetite for half a sandwich, this is quite depressing

Woken up to see a load of people on instagram mad at me, forgetting I’d posted a comment under someone’s post saying “Bear had a point” despite having not see Obsession or really know what it’s about. The price one pays for just wanting to be part of something.

Emily Wilson beefing with Christopher Nolan just days after Julian Casablancas fires shots at Anthony Fantano. Huge summer for precariously employed millennials

Kind of convinced that we have to start shooting video in landscape

There's a lot more to this clip too. The guy she's confronting is one of the most well-known Muslim content creators in the UK, and they've gone to Speaker's Corner specifically for this very online confrontation.

Esheru

Far-right agitator Kellie-Jay Keen deliberately disrupting two Muslim men, as they prayed in a corner of Hyde Park. When government, politicians, media and pundits stay silent about this, they’re condoning it. As this would never be allowed, had these been Jewish worshippers
