I forget where I heard it but whoever said "if you get into a battle of will with a toddler, you will lose" gave me words I structure my life by
CorySomeone gave me a book about toddlers and their emotional lives and one of the things in there was that as a parent, it was okay to back down sometimes, you don't have to die on every hill. You can model 'I got new information and so I am changing my mind' genius
When someone said "okay then I will count to 3 and then you can choose or I can choose for you" in front of me for the first time, it was like God had reached done from the heavens and handed me a cheat code
RochelleI was sure that if my kids argued with me about things, I'd just give them two choices I'm already okay with and let them pick from those two choices to give them a feeling of control over the situation. Easy. I failed to consider what to do when they say no to both choices.

Once more: Mamdani understands that you can't just do things in politics and expect voters will notice on their own and thank you for it. You've got to work just as hard selling yourself to voters once you're in office as you did selling yourself to them to get into office. This is the way.

My theory is that a lot of activism-organizing folks have pretty much hunkered down and locked in on managing local community survival stuff. There is such a sustained assault on access to food, childcare, etc on a local level that those fights have occupied us. Which is the assault's purpose
Will BunchAre we comfortably numb with police violence? The brutal cop killing of Corey Ruiz in Madison, Wisc. sparked local protest but only muted outrage on the national level. Despite falling crime, cops gun down more Americans than ever Where's the outrage? My new column www.inquirer.com/opinion/core...
