The original story - Journey to the West by Wu Cheng'en - is worth reading. There's some great comedy in it. Tripitaka (aka Hsuan Tsang) the monk on pilgrimage who Monkey and his chums accompany was a real historical person from the seventh century AD.
Lomelindi12Hooting at “Monkey” (the late 70s Japanese TV series) with my brother. It’s a tale of mythical creatures cast out from Heaven by Buddha who accompany a monk to India & have lots of adventures We used to watch it with Dad & loved it - especially Pigsy!
Hookland - there to be used by those who need it or want it.
Tales of WihtloreTwo nights ago I could not sleep, I closed my eyes and suddenly was transported to #hookland When I opened my eye, my head was filled with a simple, haunting melody: I dedicate this to @hookland.bsky.social & @skionar.bsky.social and all those who make these processions for us. #folklore
One of the most haunting places in Britain. To walk amongst these ancient yews is to hear the ages’ whispers as they dust the channels of your ears like moths in all their fluttering.
The English Oak ProjectAncient yew tree forest - Kingley Vale, Sussex Difficult to age yew trees, but multiple trees are estimated at 1,000 years old
Goodnight from Tilly Hope, hiding the stuffed Headless Bear that Nanna gave her today behind all her other soft toys. Goodnight from David Ash and Billy Burrows, standing guard St. Mary’s at Ufford in case the dead decide to leave the ground on St. Lazarus Eve. Goodnight from Hookland.
This has been happening, as I understand it, under both Republican and Democrat administrations for decades. Is the system broken?
Patriot Virtus ⚖️🖤Because our government is corrupt. But each side just blames the other. Americans could fix it, but that would require some discomfort. So that isn't going to happen.
OK. Serious and non-partisan question from a non-American. Why is Congress allowed to staple two, three, four or even more different pieces of legislation that have to be passed or rejected in unison? I can't think of any other democracy where this would be allowed.
Patriot Virtus ⚖️🖤The #GOP are not serious people. They will destroy this nation to keep power.
