That being said, it'd be a law that would have limited teeth if it existed because in-universe sapient animals don't have human rights and that's been a deliberate political choice because since they're not human it's easier to loophole not treating them as such under existing laws

re: the anime discourse going around like now, I'd love to hear some Quebecois weigh in. From everything I've heard the attitude towards anime was VERY different there because localizing anime was mainstream in Quebec LONG before it was in the rest of North America.
