eventually Jones started biting back, which was pretty much the nail in the coffin for Python at that point. i think Jones even threw a typewriter at Cleese, when he finally snapped.

Cleese was always super domineering and combatitive as part of his creative syle. as the Python relationship began to fray, that increasingly turmed into outroght bullying with the mild-mannered Jones getting the brunt of it. Basically Fawlty was real John turned up to parody levels.

For those unfamiliar, Idle has stated multiple reasons in the past for loathing John Cleese. Including Idle's own guilt for not standing up to Cleese when he was constantly bullying Terry Jones during Python.
