frame of reference for this - BSL interpretation costs roughly as much as the entirety of alt pride last year. We do try and do as much as we can on a shoestring but still, it's a big investment and I love being part of a group that goes 'we have money?! Awesome, let's get BSL interpretation!'

So proud of this - TLC is hosting a FREE variety show for alternative pride, and we have BSL interpretation for the show. I'm so delighted that we are able to offer this level of accessibility for the first time ❤️ share with your d/Deaf friends! 🌈

We also have been sharing it with friends who are vulnerable to the heat, keeping one room as cool as we can so that friends can come and work, or have a sleep in our living room. We would not be huddling around a single portable aircon unit to get catnaps if there was a better choice.

I held out on getting aircon for a long time because it felt like needlessly worsening the problem, but the heat has overtaken my ability to cope with the temperature and I'm really grateful to have the unit we do.

In Canada where aircon is frequently needed, it is far, far cheaper. You can also buy/install a proper split unit far more cheaply than you can here, and they run more efficiently than portable ones. Here, that is decently likely to be more expensive, and need planning permission, which is more ££.
