I tried to query what he meant by immigration, since the vast majority of immigrants to this country pay tax and help keep us all alive! But of course, they don’t want rational debates (like illegal small boat crossers are <1% of the total net migration figures). And that’s Farage’s perfect storm.

Person 3 (related through marriage): “me and all my friends are voting Farage” (I did point out that unless he moved to Clacton, that was not possible!). “He’s the only one who can sort out the crippling levels of immigration. Kimi’s lost the plot & labour are shit” I didn’t know where to start!

Person 2 (even dearer old friend): we didn’t discuss politics for one reason alone: he was wearing not one, but two “Make England Great Again” rubber wristbands (one red, one white….of course). How the f*ck do I begin to engage with that?
