Definitely more of the latter. That's just a general catch-all for the rules and patterns that make magic and physical reality work in this story, not pointing towards any one of consciousness or entity.

Oh, tons. When I started writing Episode 2, there was an outline, but things that weren't in that outline include: - Eckerberg giving Amy her ring. - The whole heart teleportation adventure. - Anything related to Lawrence Donahue. - The Doomscroller paving the way to Shepherd 2028. Etc.

Yes! This is not strictly my department, but I know there’s been a lot of conversations about making it available. So it’s coming. I can’t say when (though I hope it’s soon) but it’s coming!

Not really… Sometimes parts would expand *a bit* after I knew who was playing them, but I think the most that has happened was me writing Rekha into the opening of 12 once I knew I’d be writing for Leah. It’s tough for parts to expand much in a show like this one, real estate is at SUCH a premium.
Fin CoeDid any character grow into a larger role than intended after you heard the actor?
About 50/50. I know a lot, but nothing is carved in stone until it shows up on the show. If a new idea shows up, it takes the place of the old thing. (Which had already happened a few times with this show’s lore.)
AngnorHow much of the actual Harbinger civilization do you have planned out ahead of time (how it fell, lore, stories, etc) vs leaving it open for flexibility as the show goes on?
Well… there will be more magic in future seasons, just because we’ll eventually get to see more of what the other people with magic are doing. But the core “what if” will always be a very grounded take on what would happen if a small number of people suddenly got magic powers.
AdamThe show seems to base the magic with a dose of, if not reality, then realism. Will the fantasy aspect be dialed up for future seasons, or will the balance be kept?
