He doesn't feel bad about it, he relishes it and looks forward to it. He feels bad about getting Telamachus embroiled in it.

I think Nolan tried to make that anxiety and alienation much more palpable by showing O screaming at Telamachus to not get involved with the slaughter and again exile himself never to see his son again rather than take the throne and corrupt his son's reign. I think they are both great stories.

Nolan has this insight. The original odyssey is where O gets to kill all the suitors with his son and then the son hangs all the servants the suitors raped and O gets to be king again. In Nolan's take, O knows its a sin and distance sT from that sin knowing he must go into exile afterwards.

I don’t think anybody is criticizing it so much. I mentioned a few times the strengths of her critique. I also think she gets some things wrong, like calling the worst sequence of the film the best or somehow watching the film and thinking we were not shown that war or killing are bad.

I think she had some great takes and insights into some flaws and missteps with the movie, and it read a little pedantic and ingenuous. Some of her issues with the movie could be directed at Homers work itself she just seems to have an agenda.
