Unfortunately, despite their almost 100% safety, tryptamine-family psychs are still turbo illegal in most places. Otherwise way more people would have recognized those images as something making sense of what it sees. Not a mind yet, sure, but something.

i.e. it would be interesting if it's even possible to create a digital entity for which the “body” is also a simulated part. Obviously there's hardware around it, but that would be more like the environment it exists in. Many curious questions that we'll only have answers to after I die lol.

The question of maintaining the body seems inconsequential to me on one hand, on the other — there's no reason for a digital mind not to map itself to the body that it *does* have. My question there wouldn't be “is there a body”, it's more “can we fully simulate this”. But that's a dif. convo.

Maybe, sure. I'm obviously not sure what makes for a subjective experience either.

Given that early images from neural networks are eerily familiar to anyone who's ever done DMT to the point of causing flashbacks, I'm inclined to think there's some similarity there after all.

It's also exactly how it feels when your ego is reconstructed on the way out of an acid trip. For a while there are just reactions, but then stuff starts looping, layering, building into a core. Pretty cool process. Not sure how similar it is to the formation of a mind in the first place tho.

It's not in any way scientific, more like the way my brain draws these things when I think of them.

The way I conceptualize this is that a mind is just a consequence of information entering various cognitive loops (processing pathways) that aren't directly tied to an action. Given enough of those loops, a model of the world arises from them.

A mind without a body is a deity. I don't believe in those xD
