Oh, I don't think the predators did it. I'm sure it was a dumb elk. The camera wasn't actually damaged, it was just slightly disassembled with fully drained batteries & over 100k pictures (one month deployment). I will have to run them through AI first before I can even think about looking at them.

Yeah, the pointy toes confused me, but the three bumps on the heel pad were pretty clear. I guess we'll never know because my camera was destroyed!

EXCEPT! Some damn critter completely trashed my camera. It was lying face down ten feet away. How they managed to extract it from the metal case is a mystery to me. I may have photographed the lion on a previous pass but I certainly didn't catch it this time around.

There were some biiiig fresh kitty tracks on the trail only about 100 meters from where I was retrieving one of my camera traps today. I was very excited about the prospective footage. 🦊

Where I last lived in Flagstaff, between 1/3 and 1/2 of the annual precipitation falls as monsoon rain from the 4th of July to the middle of September. It's still only like 8-12 inches total, but for a couple glorious months it's a verdant paradise. Here in the Inland NW, summer is deathly dry.
