I love how I go through a very recognizable cycle of being too self-conscious to talk about my writing ever, working up to getting comfortable doing it, doing it excessively, and then becoming convinced everyone is fed up with it and telling myself I need to stop doing it.

In Brazil the standard and widely considered correct way to indicate dialogue is em dashes. When I started reading more books in English and decided I preferred using quotations marks I was constantly told that it was confusing and incorrect to do that when writing in Portuguese. So yeah.
