Thinking about the spectacular mix of irrelevance, tastelessness, historical inaccuracy, and aesthetic unpleasantness that is the “children of stardust” conclusion to the NCMNS fossil exhibit. (The rest of the exhibit quite nice).

My colleagues at the Field recently completed this display with Native collaborators. It replaces a section of Ancient Americas that previously included items removed from graves. A small but important step in the right direction.

At MPM today. This diorama landscape with the star animals and label removed made me feel some kind of way. A liminal space, as the kids would say.

I'm trying very hard to stay positive about the Milwaukee Public Museum's forced move and rebuild. But these renders of the Africa dioramas look *so* small compared to the immersive tableaus they're replacing. 😐
