My latest for The Philippine Daily Inquirer is about how beloved and familiar brands deserve better than to be served poorly by the world's most popular d20 make believe loot and kill game.

Bringing Warcraft, Star Wars to D&D is a waste of good IPAlongside the likes of Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones, the world of Warcraft is one of the largest fantasy franchises of all time. Birthed into existence by a handful of real-time strategytechnology.inquirer.net

These games could have been made and funded at any point in time, they simply chose not to. None of them actually like Balatro, Peak, Clair Obscur for anything that they are, you all just want the success they represent but won't actually open themselves to the ideas being pitched at them.

We need games like Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Balatro, and Peak as a cure for the "fear" in the industry, say experts www.gamesradar.com/games/we-nee...

I love running and playing beloved and familiar brand at the table but imagine having a home game that is so creatively bankrupt, you've made the mechanically destitute choice of running Azeroth of Warcraft on the most milquetoast fantasy roleplaying system.

Windows Central

Following rumors, Dungeons and Dragons publisher Wizards of the Coast has confirmed they're collaborating with Blizzard Entertainment to create D&D: World of Warcraft! It's a tabletop RPG that combines tabletop roleplaying with WoW's setting, races, and classes.

Setting aside the obvious ridiculousness of giving any CEO additional money in a year they fired that many people, explain to me how any one executive can warrant having their performance bonus quadrupled.

Eurogamer

After laying off Battlefield 6 devs, EA boss Andrew Wilson's bonus rose $8m to $38m last year, thanks to the game's success across "all milestones" www.eurogamer.net/ea-boss-38-m...

Also, does it need to be said that being a celebrity fan of D&D doesn't make you better prepared to create official material for the game? I mean sure, the standards at Hasbro/WotC are very low but who in their right mind thought the host of Deal or No Deal Island could make the next Eberron.

I don't understand how Mike Mearls keeps finding space in D&D / TTRPGs. He's an unremarkable designer, he's not particularly charming, and let's be real, he doesn't have "pretty" privilege (to put it lightly) so just how even? Surely of all the white sex pests we can weed out the dumb and ugly.

Look I enjoy FF7 Remake well enough in spite of the criticisms, but maybe we could try being more normal about remakes. Oh, shoot just noticed this is Yoshi-P, yeah of course he has to make a remake sound like a threat.

Eurogamer

"4 or maybe even 5 instalments" If you want Remakes of older Final Fantasy games, prepare for them to be even bigger than the FF7 Remake trilogy www.eurogamer.net/final-fantas...

Westerners will read about Filipino nurses being hired remotely to fill hospital gaps and their reaction isn't "how do we fix staffing," or "Filipinos are exploited by a flailing sector" but "omg Americans are getting substandard care" despite Filipinos being among the best nurses in the world.

If the executives find out you can make games for fun, they're going to tell the Church.

This genuinely sucks because Xbox's dedication to accessibility really felt like it was defining what was possible. They've had their gaffes, of course, but it genuinely felt like they were showing the way for the companies that couldn't be bothered.

I feel a little crazy for saying this, but this is a mistake. Like, the creative problems of the comics are myriad -- such as the persistent whiteness -- and too elaborate to get into but being in New York is not one of them. Relocating will change the culture behind the work to its detriment.

LRP: Just want to say that I don't actually know if they're kidding about 'enchiritos' because I absolutely believe that if they're not a real part of Mex cuisine it would be necessary for America to invent them.

No Escape from the Tyranny of Virtue 🏴🏳️‍⚧️🇵🇸

okay listen we joke about taco bell giving us the turbo shits but if you eat TWENTY SEVEN ENCHIRITOS it's ABSOLUTELY GOING TO GIVE YOU THE TURBO SHITS THIS IS A FORESEEABLE DISASTER YOU CAN AVOID BY SIMPLY BUYING ONE ENCHIRITO (OR TWO IF YOU'RE FEELIN' IT)

Every time an American tells me of the shits they got from some supposedly shady restaurant or purportedly questionable cuisine ten times out of ten it's because they ate it in an American manner, which is to say in life endangering quantities.
