This is a must-play for any detective game fans!

Yes I think that is a great example. I bounced off Epigraph after an hour or so of being totally lost. This game is more accessible than that, I'd say. But I admire both.

Honestly I admire that the devs put it out like this. It's not the way I build games, but it's a consistent package. It's not for everyone, but if you're the person with the correct intersection of life experience and puzzle sickness, it will blow you away. store.steampowered.com/app/4080030/...

And YET! There's something special there. A narrative that builds slowly over 30 hours (and I was using a walkthrough heavily towards the end). Jaw dropping moments where your knowledge solidifies and you start to understand the aliens.

I try really hard to make Evil Trout games accessible, and this game is like the total opposite of that. It starts with like 5 hours of high school level math. The input it accepts is so rigid. You can often have the correct answer in mind but just not worded it perfectly.

The Message from Deep Space was a really unique experience for me. It has some amazing concepts and puzzles, and I think it's it will be hugely influential to other puzzle game developers in the future... but... I can't recommend it to most people.

It was never the goal to have every user use every piece of functionality. Some of it is quite hidden! Like if you type a scene code into the notebook it makes a link automatically if you've found the scene. My philosophy is give users tools but also get out of their way, and let them figure it out
