But this tragedy makes it clear our work is far from over. Ghost guns and DIY machine guns continue to show up at crime scenes across the US, like in Seattle where two people were killed and four others were wounded, including a 2-year-old boy.

The Seattle Center shooting is a stark reminder that the gun industry continues to fuel America’s gun violence crisis with deadly innovations. The shooting involved both a ghost gun assembled from a kit and a Glock pistol equipped with a machine gun conversion device, making it fully automatic.

One of the guns used in the mass shooting at a Seattle food festival this week was a DIY machine gun — a Glock pistol modified with a switch and equipped with a 40-round magazine.

Da’Jon Hayes-Burr, 15, and Jacob Freytes, 12, were both horrifically shot and killed over the weekend in Kentucky and New York. They both had their whole lives ahead of them; now their parents are planning their funerals.

Sara Gibson was shot and killed by her estranged husband, who had at least two protective orders against him. Allowing someone to be armed when we know they’re a threat to themselves or others puts lives at risk. Sara should still be here.

One year ago today, a typical workday in a New York City skyscraper became a nightmare. A man armed with an AR-15 opened fire inside the lobby, then made his way up to the 33rd floor. In minutes, four people were shot and killed, and one other was shot and wounded.

Fifteen-year-old Giovanna Myrie and her 9-year-old brother, Steve Allen, were shot and killed by a 16-year-old boy Giovanna had been talking to. The boy sent Giovanna threatening messages prior to the shooting saying he would kill her if she dated other boys.

HORRIFIC: Six children, ages 5 to 15, were among eight people found dead in a Michigan home that had been set on fire on Friday. Some of the victims were found with gunshot wounds. Police are investigating the attack as a homicide-suicide.
