Rep. Andrew Clyde owns Clyde Armory, and is also one of the most vocal opponents of the ATF — the agency tasked with enforcing our gun laws. Now, his gun shop is embroiled in a federal gun trafficking case involving more than 40 guns allegedly purchased in Georgia and trafficked to Chicago.
Our hearts are with Mia Bieniemy, her husband Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy, and everyone affected by this shooting. No family should have to endure gun violence in their own home. We must continue working toward solutions that help prevent shootings before they happen.
Sara Gibson was shot and killed by her estranged husband, who had at least two protective orders against him. Allowing someone to be armed when we know they’re a threat to themselves or others puts lives at risk. Sara should still be here.
One year ago today, a typical workday in a New York City skyscraper became a nightmare. A man armed with an AR-15 opened fire inside the lobby, then made his way up to the 33rd floor. In minutes, four people were shot and killed, and one other was shot and wounded.
Fifteen-year-old Giovanna Myrie and her 9-year-old brother, Steve Allen, were shot and killed by a 16-year-old boy Giovanna had been talking to. The boy sent Giovanna threatening messages prior to the shooting saying he would kill her if she dated other boys.
Yesterday, three people were shot and killed, and four others were shot and wounded during a shootout at a food festival in Seattle, Washington. My heart is with the families of the victims and the entire Seattle community as they process this unspeakable tragedy.
HORRIFIC: Six children, ages 5 to 15, were among eight people found dead in a Michigan home that had been set on fire on Friday. Some of the victims were found with gunshot wounds. Police are investigating the attack as a homicide-suicide.
