A tremendous advancement would come about if more people adopted that attitude. Bad faith positions deserve contempt, not engagement.

Lots of services are going to lose lots of customers.

The point of wealth taxes is not to raise capital. It’s to reduce the political power of the rich. That’s it. That’s the only real reason - and it’s why they are essential in some form.

Our entire economy is based on making the planet progressively less habitable. It doesn’t have to be that way but it’s the fastest way to extract profits.

You’re not very bad. I think they should *almost* die, and then “recover” to a brutal case of long COVID. Let them each spend the rest of their lives in a darkened room, too fatigued to even read or talk, with just their own thoughts for company.

These people probably *will* vote for a Democrat in the next election. And then a Republican the election after that and round and round we go.

That 22% are the “low information voters” - the people who voted for Trump because they thought he supported abortion, etc. Those people are barely sentient and swing like a sign in the wind. As part of an electoral strategy they must be assumed to be unreliable.

I am keenly, professionally aware of exactly how significant those two things were, and were not. (Paris Accords were largely performative. IRA was not, but even pouring money on red states isn’t enough to make MAGA love the future.)

Then where the hell is the climate policy??! I’ve been waiting 25 years for the Democrats to catch up to something as obvious as the nose on their face, and the only meaningful thing we have seen in that time is Biden’s IRA. My point is that inflation is a real problem because it reflects stresses on the system - stresses we impose and continue to escalate. I’m not sure what your objection is.

It makes sense that corporations would be hesitant to put capital at risk in flood prone areas but this could be about racism as much as the city being built in a swamp. We have no such geographic differentiation. The racial makeup of the two areas are different, but neither are white.
