"Theft" in English doesn't usually refer to a specific statutory crime but a very broad concept of "taking something that doesn't belong to you [typically without force or violence]". It can certainly appear in the names of crimes ("grand theft") but I believe "larceny" is more common.

No, actually, because if they knew what Israel would do they wouldn't have been happy about it. Smarter people who support Palestinian rights and statehood were not celebrating.

Because the thing is, if you actually opposed murdering civilians, it would be incredibly easy to do. Lots of people anticipated the Israeli war in Gaza and called for Israel to show restraint and protect civilians. But you can't call for restraint while celebrating murder, so they didn't.
