This is what the right does. They find places filled with progressives and insert themselves to make it political. Someone paid thousands of dollars for protesters to go sit courtside holding transphobic at a WNBA game. Naturally, the fans and players react and Fox News turns it into a story.

It's really infuriating how the right has to politicize and wreck everything. The WNBA is an amazingly diverse and progressive league where a bunch of the players are all dating each other. Now they're inserting themselves to make everything a culture war and tear the league apart.

If someone cornered you at a cocktail party and said something like this, you wouldn't just try to get away from them. You'd bounce from the whole event because wtf. But elected Republicans get up every day and say unhinged stuff like this in Congress and I honestly do not know how to unfuck this.

“These aren’t incentives to do science. These are incentives to develop things with tax dollars that you can then sell to the government for more tax dollars.” (and line a lot of his crony’s pockets along the way)

New in PN: The new "science golden age" looks suspiciously like a grift "It’s impossible not to wonder whether part of Trump’s loathing for universities is that there's no way for him to corrupt the process and make money off it in the same way he can by giving billions to Silicon Valley types."

"The very existence of Rep. Rulli and Rep. Emmer – as Italian-American and German-American members of Congress – proves that the arguments of nativists are bankrupt to the core."

Kevin M. Kruse

In recent weeks, congressmen like Rep. Tom Emmer (R-MN) and Rep. Michael Rulli (R-OH) have leveled racist attacks against immigrant communities in their districts. As I note in CAMPAIGN TRAILS, a century ago those same racist attacks were being made against people named Emmer and Rulli.
