Yeah , it's not nice- between our poultry and my neighbours dairy farm rats are a fact of life. He used to rep them completely at bay - with the farm cats. The road is too fast now for us to risk more barn ferals :( I'm crazy proud of him .

Some go through huge, awe inspiring metamorphoses to grow into not their potential, some don't grow at all which must be stultifying and scarey.

I think that's ok . As an out you could always stick a picture of your now face on a hand drawn childish stick figure .

Every year I think I'll buy native caterpillars to watch and I never do - maybe this has inspired me.

With my pets I have ones where connection is easier . Not favourite - but our personalities gel so getting along requires minimal conscious effort on both parts. It doesn't mean I love that one more but the relationship is easier.

The other super cool thing about this being cat proofed is mice like to get in to the heap pumps on this side and the cats can take care of that for the heat pump benefit and their own entertainment!
