The firestorm of age-verification laws have done almost nothing to prevent minors from accessing porn online. What they have done is give the state a powerful tool to harass speech they don't like by declaring it pornographic or "harmful to minors."

I am glad you are okay but still a bizarre and harrowing experience. Rescue 911 didn’t prepare us for how scary calling emergency services really is.

I am not sure if it’s elitism or ignorance about what graduate programs do and do not prepare the workforce to do. Advanced degree holders at my organization had no grant writing or management skills. I wrote and managed grants.

At my last job I was asked to write my own job description. At the end the only critique I got was that the job required an advanced degree. I don’t hold an advanced degree. It literally cannot be a job description to require it as I am doing the job and don’t hold one.

Does your job require a Master’s (or advanced) degree? Does the accomplishment of your duties rely on skills and knowledge specifically from your degree program?

Read this (beautifully written) thread AND if you’re queer, befriend people with kids so the kid can see a template of a queer person and have an easier journey to KNOW their parents treat queer people well. I love knowing that a kid in my life said “I think I’m like David” to his parents.
