Don't look now, but the world has now installed 3TW of solar. Took 10 years to get from 100GW to 1TW. Less than 3 years to get to 2TW. Less than 2 years to get to 3TW. Analysts expect *9TW* by 2036.
couple months ago: let's show these assholes why americans are drowning in medical and other personal debt now: wait what we don't even have the weaponry now either
Our third video concerns the dad movie classic Crimson Tide, its production history, an (accidental) real life parallel, and a narratively smart decision to swap the typical personalities of a naval vessel’s CO and XO. As this week’s topic starts with C, next week’s will start with D. Any guesses?
You know that the AGO has the largest collection of ship models in the world in its basement right?
I'd never read this, fuckin haunting piece. first published in 1950 it seems
Helen KennedyRead it here if you haven't yet. Today is the very best day of all days to read it for the first time. short-stories.co/@raybradbury...
If you told someone watching Minority Report that Samantha Morton wouldn't be dining out for the rest of her career they'd think you were insane. They hate a middle-aged woman so much in that town.
Steven SantosThose who spent time complaining about other actors Christopher Nolan hired may also want to consider he's just casting actors he's seen and liked and who haven't been getting cast in major roles as much as they should be. The guy gave Tom Conti two important roles in his films. See also:
Republicans love pushing vocational-only education instead of comprehensive-education because they want a healthy supply of low-cost servants and less competition for the professional and boss jobs they want their own kids to have.
Seth CotlarIn a college sociology class in the late 1980s I was assigned a Marxist analysis of education that argued that the US education system is designed primarily to produce efficient workers for the labor market. And now Trump’s Department of Education is just tweeting it out.
And yes, these videos are mostly an excuse to catalogue weird pieces of movie trivia I don’t otherwise have a place for

The Children of Light, the graphic novel I translated, is coming out on August 18th, and is available for pre-order! So far it's been getting some very nice reviews, which I'm gonna put in this here thread
Whatever you do don’t take me to The Island from The Prisoner! I’d hate to live in a cool rent free apartment full of bold late 60s modern furniture haha noooo a bubble don’t chase me haha
You and I paying increased prices due to tariffs then corporations getting the refund is “trickle up economics.” Trump has invented even worse economic policies than Reagan.
You city slickers could never pull off a look as iconic as this 1978 McDonald's cowboy hat and belt buckle combo...
things I need help with: • refilling medications • groceries • gas in car • dog food • car payment All my work is free and my links are in my bio and im also transgender and work really hard

I think it also revealed just how quickly a bunch of otherwise very hard problems can be to solve with global collective action. The fuckin Ganga was running clear water for the only time in my lifetime because for 2 weeks nobody threw garbage in it. The canals in Venice had fish.
Dave AndressCovid lockdowns demonstrated, in a deeply imperfect way, the possibility of large-scale social solidarity for a higher cause. That is a prime reason why so many powerful people want us to run screaming away from them into the comforting arms of selfish individualist competition.
It's absolutely insane we've somehow let the Covid recriminations debate become like "why didn't we reopen in person schools before there was a vaccine" and not "why did none of the trump guys go to jail for stealing PPE from New York hospitals in March 2020"
