Reminder on Customer Service requests 101: If you need a replacement from a company, include your name, address, and some kind of identifier of your order/pledge when you FIRST reach out. It saves time and need for the CS person to reach back out to confirm any of this. Help people help you.

So ideally during play you're only using the front 95% of the time after you've established your character, *maybe* flipping over to reference a piece of gear if it had to be there, and definitely flipping over in the event of a filled XP track. But otherwise, your "active" elements should be there.

Back: The "you only need to establish this stuff once" portion — Getting Started, Look, list-of-stat-ratings-combos-which-don't-matter-to-ongoing-play-after-you've-made-your-pick, Introductions, History — the "you only need this when you fill your XP" Improvements, & Gear overspill if needed.

But yeah, looking over the consolidated playbooks, most of the time I was successful with: Front: Stats-you-actually-have, Luck, Harm, Experience, Moves, and occasional special-move-type-to-the-playbook (e.g. the Abandoned's Abandonment block), with gear if all the aforementioned uses less space.

I find that your reasoning is sound in terms of illuminating your preferences and pointing out what worked about the 1e booklet-style ones, all the same. I'm not sure I could take one of the more complex playbooks back into that format all that successfully though. Worth mulling over.

Relatedly, the "real wordy" reason is part of why booklet-folding didn't really persist. Sometimes some columns of text need to be wider or narrower to help accommodate each function-grouping — and I also felt that when used purely digitally as a PDF, booklet folding was moot & sometimes a bad fit.

The idea was to minimize sheet-flipping after you've got your character built out. The numbers you add to the dice, marking XP, marking harm, marking luck, and available moves on the forward-facing side as the ideal. Gear too if it fit, but some playbooks are real wordy, hence the "didn't always."

Yeah, the idea is that unless there’s too much text to the part you’re actually actively using during play, the “front” side of a playbook is for use when not doing the before (character creation) or the after (advancement). The backside is where the before and after go. It didn’t always work out.
