I'd also say that part of this was also some pre-2016 naivete that I grew up largely believing the myth we were taught that racial and gender equality were mostly achieved and at the very least everyone agreed on the goal and it was just a matter of time getting there. We were not all agreed.

FACTS There is nothing like being lectured by Professional Rural Understanders(TM) about how "we just need to reach out to farmers!" Sir I AM A FARMER. Zip it & shovel something while I catch you up on how farms & money actually work. Or just plain zip it.
David RobertsNobody is less interested in what *actual* rural people & interest groups *actually* say & want than the rural romanticizers always lecturing Dems to reach out more.
Yep, "you can't just fire people, keep their passports, do brutality, not even a little bit" was in some anti-slavery reforms to the H2A program in 2024. Farmers were outraged at the "gov't overreach & red tape." They went hard for Trump in '24, & he repealed those farm worker regs in June 2025.
Gaius Cassius LonginusI'm also guessing that the farmers in question didn't want their workers to be able to quit and that they wanted the right to "discipline" them for "poor performance" however they saw fit?
So, I confess, Dark Sun has never been my bag, and I based on their hit rate with setting so far, I'm not terribly optimistic, but the prospect of the maps? THAT intrigues me.
MarcoMaps BernardiniWell. It was hard keeping it for myself... But you'll find lots of my maps in those brutal babies. BIG MAPS. CAN'T WAIT TO SHOW YOU!

When I wrote Data Mind, people kept asking me why ghosts kept popping up in poems about digital life as a non-digital native, and I didn't have a great answer, so it's fascinating to see
