Blue Bottle Games, as a policy, does not use generative AI. It's something we've discussed as a team, weighing the pros and cons, and ultimately, we decided it was not for us. Recently, while chatting with a colleague, she mentioned it was useful hearing our reasoning. So: Sharing time! 1/12
I like when electric cars back up and it sounds like a multitude of wide-mouthed hollow ceramic dolls singing in a windstorm
Wherefore art the Junior Positions? I was asked this question, so here's a post. It's a complicated issue and this is a subjective answer. My thoughts, offered as an explanation of the industry, not a personal perspective of how things should work. Thread -
Yeah! Heck, I just spent a few weeks learning how to write sim logic for vehicles Genuinely the most exciting development month of my last decade, time has slowed to a crawl for me because of how NOVEL it all is, and it'll help me a ton on this and future games You don't get that at all otherwise
Date: What do you do? Me: I'm a kleptozoologist Date: Isn't it cryptozoologist? Me, stuffing my pockets with lobsters from the tank: that's a common misconception
There are two elements of this reasoning that I confirm (time and again) because I have been able to make the comparison: - Verifying AI output requires human review time. - Verifying AI output requires expertise equal to or greater than that required to generate the output manually. 💯

Oh hey, yep, basically same conclusions we came to. Like even if you're willing to write off the ethical stuff, there's a bunch of super boring business reasons to not go anywhere near it. Including "it appears to erode your abilities even if you're aware of that risk going in." That's uh. Um. No.

Copyright and licensing issues are a major concern with generated assets. A good chunk of the agreement is ensuring developer has the rights to valid licenses to all materials in the Game, and pure AI generated assets cannot be assigned, it's similar to copy-left trepidations
Truck-kun is Supporting Me From Another World comes out NEXT WEEK - so here's some details on our previously unseen free roam mode! store.steampowered.com/app/3642010/...
Ostranauts tip: AyoSec patrol craft have two externally accessible cables on their aft cabin which, if uninstalled, will cut power to the whole ship and disable all doors. Ostranauts tip #2: cops don't carry tools capable of prying open or uninstalling a stuck door :)
