Earth is now warming faster than at any point in recorded geological history - around 10 times faster than the extreme warming event 56 million years ago and 20 times faster than at the end of the last ice age. We are almost certainly in a new extinction event.

“Hosepipe ban exemptions for golf courses & private school sports pitches symbolise everything wrong with our water system. How can it be right that a private school can use [so much] water to keep the grass green in the middle of the summer holidays, but children cannot play in paddling pools?"
The Guardian‘It’s alright for them’: private schools and golf courses stay green despite England’s hosepipe bans
The UK's prolonged hot, sunny and dry weather is visible from space 🛰️ Comparing satellite images from late May and now, much of the landscape has turned from green to brown ☀️ Farmers and gardeners are feeling the strain, with wildfire risk elevated as a third heatwave continues🌡️
The majority of Farage supporters don't know that he wants to do away with the NHS & replace it with a US-style insurance based system. Nor do they know that the £5m from Christopher Harborne is only the tip of the iceberg.Harborne has donated £12m to Reform &, if we include the Brexit Party,£27m.
"Civilisation still rests upon very old foundations: water, temperature, food and the limits of the human body... Countries like Britain may discover that the climate crisis is not only about weather, but about movement – the slow rearranging of where human beings can comfortably live on Earth."

This was was a fast turnaround. Like modern British PMs ... here's a musical parody view of #Starmer's and #Labour's crisis through the lens of Rodgers & Hammerstein's "The Farmer and the Cowman" (Oklahoma!) 🎶 youtu.be/WbT2yTxOMvY
With much focus today on the warming rate in Europe, it might be important to also pay attention to the "cold blob" - that area in blue to the northwest of Ireland/British Isles, with a persistent cooling anomaly. It's linked to a slowing down of the AMOC = potential big climate upheaval.
While we are transfixed by the antics of our supposed "leaders", a catastrophe of astonishing proportions has been creeping up on us. Climate scientists now believe it is more likely than not to happen, and soon. This week's column. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

The UK right wing media - which is most media including BBC- is really doing their best (worst) to find some dirt on the greens. Wonder why Farage wasn't exposed to same ferocious investigations 🤔😁
Zack PolanskiThis is why Daily Mail journalists are going after my family now. The right wing propaganda machine will not work on the Green Party. We're ready to end Rip off Britain, end the cost of living crisis and make hope normal again.
82% of Labour voters said they supported "Britain rejoining the European Union". Just 12% were against. - Labour needs to stop chasing Reform voters! www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
I wasn't intending to turn this into a thread, but it seems to have happened anyway. It's about the great plague on our lives: the extreme wealth of a tiny number of people. And what to do about it.
George MonbiotHow much more evidence do we need? The ultra-rich and the governments supporting them will destroy everything for the sake of profit, power and pride. Nothing is precious to them - not human life, not the living world - except their own wealth and status. Our survival depends on resisting them.
