The initial meaning of the term “antisemitism” was Nazis attempting to make hating Jews sound scientific. “Semitic” refers to language groups, not people. Antisemitism has always meant “hatred of Jews,” not “hatred of people born in a desert” or even “hatred of speakers of Semitic languages.”
