Love a sassy footnote (from Cunnington 1929 "Woodhenge", p184) (The joke here is that ogs crawford is the editor of @antiquity.ac.uk being referred to here as disagreeing with ogs crawford the author of Wessex from the Air)

Alternatively... two of these jammed closed so they won't separate and there's a grad student with a swag, a flashlight and a thermos of coffee living in the lowest level and crawling out to get showers and meet their advisor.

i don't like to police genre, but it's not dark academia unless somebody gets squished in one of these bad boys

I am not that old. In the early years of my career before i comprehensively put my foot down i would regularly find books in my work mailbox with notes from male colleagues instructing me to copy this chapter or that for them

Dr Space Junk (Alice Gorman)

Because admin staff were mostly women, female academics were considered equivalent. There to perform service, not to undertake intellectual work. Of course it was more complex than this, but that's the broad picture. #AcademicSky

Very first sentence is about the knapped artefacts First Nations people here made with ballast stones. Def of interest to archs!

Sad that the comments are all about the sports part and not the take too seriously part. Sport isn't for anyone but it's not the problem. That's the cost of university, parental class anxiety, etc. Running around with your friends while following silly rules should be a deeply joyful experience.

Marisa Kabas

the obsession with trans women in sports is, apart from the abject bigotry, a symptom of how we take amateur sports participation way too seriously in this country.

Dr Alex Fitzpatrick

In asking archaeologists to unify over a more apolitical archaeology, you are explicitly asking marginalised archaeologists to reject parts of themselves for the sake of civility. You’re asking people who recognise injustice to remain silent. Why would I want to be in a group like that?

Dr Alex Fitzpatrick

If you consider a genocide that explicitly uses archaeology and cultural heritage management as something “too political” for an archaeology organisation to stand against, then I have no confidence you’ll care about the pervasiveness of racism, of bigotry, of the remnants of colonialism in our field
