Transition TimesIn @transitiontimes.bsky.social TT#12, we review media coverage of the ongoing wildfires, heatwaves, floods, and other disasters, and ask why it isn’t consistently linked with what’s causing them: climate change. We also review research on how to do better. www.transitiontimes.net/tt-12-a-fail...

Just so we know where we are now…US has partnered with Saudi Arabia to strike Iran-backed militias in Iraq apnews.com/article/iran... And China is providing weapons to Iran www.reuters.com/world/china/...
I'm a huge fan, with most of his 62 original albums committed to memory, watched the documentaries and read multiple books, etc... still, I learned *SO MUCH* from this pair of episodes! Bravo, @andrewhickey.500songs.com!
A History of Rock Music in 500 SongsHeard the (second) episode that dropped last week? It’s Song 185: “Peaches En Regalia” by Frank Zappa 👑 🎶 Following on from the episode on the GTOs, Andrew explores the absurdist and unusual Zappa. This is precisely why I wrote, in TT#8: "Sadly, too much of the Democratic leadership that ought to be voicing full-throated support for the energy transition are proving too craven for the challenge" Not "the climate crisis" but "burning fossil fuels"! www.transitiontimes.net/tt-8-fixing-...
This is one of the strongest statements from Congressional Democrats on the fossil-fueled wildfires, and even so it makes the mistake of saying "the climate crisis" is the cause, when it's the effect! The cause is climate pollution from the burning of fossil fuels!
"In fact, it is in the interests of almost every actor in the space – boards, executives, employees, vendors, consultants – to obfuscate and misrepresent the success rate of AI projects." ludic.mataroa.blog/blog/ai-mani... In NN#3 I laid out some 🔑 questions www.transitiontimes.net/nn-3-data-ce...
If you're an energy and climate modeler, please read this critique and if you can, prove me wrong.
Transition TimesRiffing on @emilygrube.bsky.social's new journal letter here bsky.app/profile/grub..., I proceed to yell at energy and climate modelers in NN#7 and implore them to do better. www.transitiontimes.net/nn-7-a-new-c...
There's a flavor of Martin Luther nailing his 95 theses to the door of the Schlosskirche in this commentary, and I am SO here for it.
Emily GrubertIn which I yell at my favorite journal and its thoughtful, talented collection of researchers that we really need to take fossil phase-out seriously as a line of inquiry, and that we would not stand for the level of talking around it as a solution in other settings with very obvious problems:
My latest @transitiontimes.bsky.social newsletter is about how popular resistance to data centers is mounting in reaction to rising grid power costs and resource demands, and how regulators and legislators are finally beginning to respond.

If you're watching oil prices with trepidation as the Iran war heats up again and wondering what you can do to protect yourself from rising fuel prices and supply chain disruptions, I gotcha covered at @transitiontimes.bsky.social! www.transitiontimes.net/nn-1-protect...
For all of these reasons, I chose to host @transitiontimes.bsky.social on Ghost.
