Solar halo and a bit of iridescence

I’m quite pleased with the Dwarf Mini. I never got around to imaging the North American Nebula with my full telescope setup. But two hours with the Dwarf Mini, and I got this. Also the just past full moon.

M101, the Pinwheel Galaxy. About an hour of exposure from my light polluted driveway with the Dwarf Mini.

Moon tonight with the Dwarf Mini. Stack of 50, cropped.

I was at The Mariners’ Museum in Newport News Virginia and saw a familiar statue at the entrance. Familiar because I saw a very similar statue of Leif Erickson in front of the cathedral in Reykjavik. Now I’m wondering about the connection.

For those who weren’t up at midnight

M20, the Trifid Nebula. 15 minutes on the Dwarf Mini in partly cloudy skies. So easy! A few edits in the Dwarf app.

Without looking it up, I’d have recognized Ted Lasso, the muppets and Madonna’s voice.

I got home and saw stars, so ran out with the new Dwarf Mini to my light polluted driveway to see what was overhead to run a quick exposure. This is a brief 15 minute view of the Hercules cluster M13. I’m going to like this.

First light with the Dwarf Mini. Given the thick wildfire smoke, no chance at stars. Well, except our own.

Among the obvious reasons this is horrible, it also doesn’t look good for me trying out my new Dwarf mini smart scope.
