Wages are higher. I saw a comparison that effectively showed that Texas cost more ... people have to work more hours to accomplish the same standard of living.

The last time I bought gas, it was $5.19 a gal. Kind of at the point of thinking "at least it's less than $6." I expect it will be going up higher soon.
