i hate that its difficult for me to gain weight

but the reality is that sometimes someones prose is just different. And you dont like it because of that. And like yeah if you want your work to appeal to a wider audience then i guess "show don't tell" is good advice but i dont think thats the end all be all and i dont think its inherently better

and like. These aren't just fanfiction or whatever lol. Articles, personal fiction posted online, smut about fucking a bomb to disarm it, original content created by small authors and larger works that are in book stores. Its so easy to just dismiss someone's prose as "they told instead of showed"-

and like. That just isn't true. I've read multiple works where people showed instead of told and the story felt bloated or worse off because of it- and i've read works where people just told all the way through it and it was awesome and theyre some of the most impactful works ive ever read.

It's why fandoms tend to get so violently upset with creators when something is but in hardcore explicitly undeniable canon terms. Jax is a closeted Trans Woman being the most recent example of this.

But the point im getting at is that people are just too terrified of actually engaging with media and instead want to engage with their own version of the media present. Too many people use games and books and movies etc as fodder to create fan fiction and then they just try to make it real.
