I don't think so. Sounds like probably inconsistent watering (which checks out lol) makes them taste bitter. They legit taste like soap.

Turns out they look just like normal cucumbers but they taste atrocious

I'm very disappointed to have learned today that apparently growing cucumbers can go horribly wrong.
