This approval sets a dangerous precedent: If a data center can get approved here, more can be approved on public land elsewhere. Even worse, this project was fast-tracked without any public input or environmental review. Behind closed doors, Trump is turning over federal land to the tech industry.

"Instead of taking any enforcement actions or working with #SpaceX to reduce or eliminate its harm to the refuge, the Service [USFWS] is now citing the resulting degradation as justification for handing the #PublicLand to SpaceX."

“The important thing to realize here is that it's not you or I who are going to be paying the price for this, it's our grandchildren's grandchildren who are going to be saddled with pollution that never goes away. And that really is the ultimate sin,” he said in an email Thursday.

Last year, the nonprofit EWG found that 2.5 million pounds of #PFAS #pesticides are sprayed into #California crops fields annually. The persistent spraying of pesticides in our food is concerning to Donley, who said, “Whatever we put into our environment today will be lurking around forever.”

Chaco Culture National Historical Park, in northern #NewMexico, is a cultural and historic treasure, with thousands of vitally important cultural sites like great houses, roads, and shrines. Many were constructed between 850 and 1250 A.D. by the ancestors of today's Pueblos, including the Hopi.

“Without a ban, there’s nothing stopping another company from swooping in and filling the void,” said Nathan Donley, a senior scientist and #pesticide expert at the Center for Biological Diversity.

The US consumes 3 billion pounds of avocados every year, mostly from Mexico. To meet the demand, Mexican forests where imperiled #MonarchButterflies spend the winter are being gobbled up. Grocery stores must adopt sourcing policies that prevent further loss of monarch habitat in #Mexico ⬇️
