I can't believe this is the first Binface content I've come across on bluesky - I've been on this for months on tiktok!

I believe Clacton deserves an MP who will spend their time shining a light on everything the area has to offer. And why wait till I'm elected? I've been to visit one of the constituency's most stunning landmarks.

🎶When you died, your survival time still appears Then downstream, in my model it interferes And you were immortal through all of these years But you data still matters to me🎶 I don't know the original reference so this is where my brain went 😅

Our next data science catch is this Thursday! The conversation is mostly attendee-driven, but I'm planning to kick things off with a chat about research software engineer and what it's like developing with/for developers statsoc.org.au/event-6708252

By all metrics I've had a really productive week And yet I haven't worked on a single thing that I wanted to 🫠🫠🫠

In the past I too have fallen into the trap of thinking "if it's good enough for the ABS it's good enough for me" But as pointed out, the ABS standard is for the ABS. We should all think about what data we need to collect. And then really actually think about it Read Danielle's blog post 👇

The title is a little pointed, but I am very serious here. Academics, medical researchers, and other organisations should not collect data on birth sex. It is rarely relevant, and it almost always leads to privacy violations for transgender people. Please share. I would like people to read this one.

Why did the barrister only represent pastry chefs? Their specialty was torte law

Why did the monks never gossip when Thomas was around? He would always update his priors

I've had several experiences now where "burn the whole thing down and start over" would be more effective than trying to decolonise what already exists

Talked with a friend about her PhD experience and oh my god, some fields need clearing house. Just burn the whole thing down and start over

Curious if anyone else has done this, or seen it done?

Slightly related, but I've submitted a poster abstract to the ADSN conference If successful, I'm intending handwrite/draw the poster at the conference Absolutely not interested in the printing faff and it's much easier to transport my ideas rather than a large poster

I've seen a couple of #quarto blogs that produce a bibtex citation at the end of each post - is this an extension? What's it called?

You thought abstract submissions for the Australian Data Science Network Conference were closing today? Nope! Like all good conferences, we're extending the deadline by one week. The final deadline is July 31st (for real this time!) adsnconf2026.netlify.app @ardc.edu.au #statssky #datascience
