Subeditor / lamestream media left-wing govt mouthpiece / right-wing govt propagandist trapped in Dunedin, New Zealand. Opinions those of the Voice of the Mysterons. Used to program binary load lifters, very similar to your vaporators in most respects

Rewatching a bit of Star Trek VI. Scotty pulled various engineering miracles over time, but did he ever do anything more impressive than sprinting up 2? 3? flights of stairs (picked by Kirk for this task even though at this point he is the most rotund crew member) and then DEMOLISHING this door?

I watched Mortal Kombat II last night (gotta support our boy Karl Urban) and the best things about it were 1) Kano was hilariously and deliberately Australian, which 2) raises the possibility that the character has been called Kano all along just because he is just a guy from Australia named Kane

Down a random wiki wormhole tonight inspired by idly wondering what qualifies any given organised crime group to be called a "mob", and this was an interesting thing to read after 100 Yakuza movies filled with cool guys in suits with swords doing drug deals in stylishly neon-lit Tokyo nightclubs.

Appreciating this photo from the World Fencing Championships, because who amongst us have never confidently attempted some bold manoeuvre in life, only for it to result with us immediately getting stabbed in the nads?

This reminds me of maybe the funniest thing in improv I have ever seen, in some pro-am night ages ago, when a newbie team was given Rumpelstiltskin as an ask-for and the scene opened: Improviser 1: Hi! Improviser 2: Hi! I'm Rumpelstiltskin. It then ended there as everyone was laughing too hard.

Daily Indignation

"The majority of people you know [are] doing fine" says millionaire broadcaster. "They have plentiful work, they are well paid, they have savings, take holidays, wish the power bill was cheaper but, by and large, life is decent and there is no crisis."

There have been some bleak episodes of Rick and Morty before now but, boy, that season 9 finale was up there.

Is any social media discourse more deadly dull than "there's something wrong with the discourse on this social medium!" social media discourse? I think not.

Depending on what you count I think maybe Avengers: Doomsday will be Chris Evans *12th* Marvel movie, which is exciting for him as he will finally fill up his stamp card and get the free coffee.

Long day today, but when I (probably ill-advisedly) replied to some Odyssey idiocy on FB, the idiot decided my opinion that maybe there is no giant conspiracy to falsify how well it's doing was explained by my profile pic (same as it is here) of me, a "man/woman/whatever", so that was pretty good.

Willing to bet some form of automation is in play here, and that sucks. www.rnz.co.nz/news/busines...

The Odyssey was pretty good, but maybe we could have Christopher Nolan pop round to each cinema it's on at and adjust the sound settings to whatever he's got set up at home that makes all his dialogue intelligible?

Have ventured a few city blocks into Auckland for a night - back to the South Island tomorrow evening - and as on previous such occasions, can't help but think about how if I attempted this manoeuvre back in the day it would have taken about 3 months and I probably would have drowned on the way
