The 2025 bestseller Abundance argues that scarcity is an artificial political construction. Borrowing the concept, this article from The Supreme Court Review highlights recent Court decisions that fall under a pro-abundance perspective. https://ow.ly/NFuX50Zq3Ta

Just read and really enjoyed "Spark, Scaffold, Substrate" (the @asn-amnat.bsky.social paper on natural history in EEB research recommended by @hormiga.bsky.social) and I have two notes...
I think about the backstories alllllllll the time - it informs the data & direction of research (and wider systems too). I’m so excited to read this 🥰

published ahead of print in @asn-amnat.bsky.social, by me et al.: doi.org/10.1086/743270 the first test (I think) of dynamic range models (spatially explicit population dynamic models) for mechanistic forecasting of near-term range shifts. they outperform a traditional species distribution model!
I’ll be heading to #ESA2026 end of the week. If you will also be there, and want to chat about your science or publishing in @asn-amnat.bsky.social (or just hang out) shoot me DM or email. I’m happy to chat.
An important and beautiful paper on the central role of natural history in ecology and evolutionary biology.

Have you seen Christopher Nolan's new *Odyssey* film adaptation yet? Watch here, as Odyssey translator Daniel Mendelsohn speaks with CNN's Fareed Zakaria GPS about the new movie and its relationship to Homer's epic:

American Naturalist / ASN 🐌Godoy et al. explored whether cooperation gives rise to mechanisms of coexistence that competition does not promote and found that cooperation promotes three unique mechanisms that diversify the pathways to coexistence. In this new paper in @asn-amnat.bsky.social , Swapna Subramanian asks whether the performance of an ecological community can be predicted by the performance of its dominant member, using wild yeast on apple orchards. www.journals.uchicago.edu/doi/epdf/10....
I think my new favorite example of a historical constraint in evolution just arrived in my print (🥰) copy of @asn-amnat.bsky.social!!! And on the same week that i prepped my lecture on adaptation and constraints!!!
