god the more i get through my old stories the more my characterization problem becomes so much more obvious, bc the rougher parts of my prose are improving but my character writing isn't. i mean this really does just mean i've gotten better at it now especially since i can notice it but damn lol

i really like my commitment to how many of my teenage female ocs are unambitious and unlikable. like they're likable as characters but they're not likable as people. and even though they're competent they're incredibly unambitious. i love them

if i wanted to write about good people i'd be writing books for 3 year olds. obviously nothing wrong with that but like, not my vibe lmao

people really underestimate how fun it is to write characters who aren't good people

i also really do understand all the comments talking about wishing my stories were longer LMAO god i have so many abrupt and open endings. i am so glad i'm better at writing endings now

im now in the period where i was writing a lot of sad gay things (2011) and man. i wrote a lot of sad gay things

anyway despite my writing improving at this time i still struggled with endings lol. i don't so much anymore but i think in general my stories are better when i have a plan bc if i'm just winging it, most of the time my endings wind up really abrupt and unsatisfactory

lmao rereading one of my original stories where a gay love interest is surrounded by girl friends and the guy pov character thinks he's completely straight. oh honey. i love my stupid ocs

i have a habit of my writing being a little worse when i start a new fandom/genre [fandoms are like genres to me lmao] so it's also been really interesting watching my original fiction writing improve (since that's what i wrote first) while going through the rough patches of my fanfic writing lol

i think i can get through 2011 today and most of 2012 🤔 thankfully though my output didn't slow, i started focusing on writing longer things in 2011, which will make this go by a lot quicker

you know what i totally forgot i wrote a cute story about them (my friend x person i used to have a thing with but no longer did and she liked them and was afraid to tell me bc of our past thing but i figured it out on my own) i'm such a bro

i like how long i made people think i was bad at spelling/grammar for a bit as a teenager because i handwrote like 70% of my stories back then and typed them up and i didn't always type up everything accurately and i also never looked them over before posting LOL
