I may just be fixating on the geography to avoid dealing with the whole of Pylos apparently consist of a sort of cave temple to Athena

Telemachus definitely has a boat to go to Sparta and then Pylos But when ever anyone else go to Pylos from Ithaca it kind of seems like they're walking?? Like T and O sneak out of the temple (which is a whole other thing...?!?) and end up back in Ithaca and then T has to go back to his ship?

I did not, but it sounds like I probably shouldn't! My one-line review is that I don't think I was meant to be laughing hysterically while the credits rolled, but that was what happened, largely due to the nearly-Linear-B-reference

What you can absolutely do is take a selfie and upload it to Wikimedia Commons so it can be used on the page, and even post on the talk page saying you've done it! (Or get someone else to take a photo, but it has to be the photographer who uploads it because they're the copyright holder)

I've not read that intro myself, but generally when people talk about the date of the Odyssey (or Iliad) they mean when "Homer" composed them (large scare quotes), and mostly it's just the nerdy linguist types who try and work out when all the different elements in the formulae come from 😀

So there are two different things going on here: Wilson is presumably talking about the date at which the poem (more or less) as we know it was created. The linguistic comparison of features of Myc Gk and Homeric Gk is about the age of the *epic tradition* of which the poem we have is a part
